Οταν μπαίνει στα γραφεία της "R", τα κεφάλια αρχίζουν να στρέφονται με ρυθμό ντόμινο για να θαυμάσουν τη γυναικάρα. Το "ποιά είναι;" δεν αιωρείται για πολύ. Είναι η Έλενα! Και στις 28 Μαρτίου επιστρέφει καλύτερη από ποτέ με ολοκαίνουργιο CD!
When she enters the offices of "R", all heads begin to turn towards her direction with a domino rhythm to admire this gorgeous woman. The "who is it?" does not "float in the air" for too long. It's Helena! And on March 28 she comes back better than ever with a brand-new CD!
Ε: Επάγγελμα τραγουδίστρια. Πώς απ'το "πότε βγαίνει το επόμενο CD;" πήγαμε στο πότε βγαίνει το επόμενο DVD; [αναφερόμενη προφανώς στο DVD της γνωστής στους απανταχού Έλληνες Τζούλιας Αλεξανδράτου]
Q: You are a professional singer. How did we go from the [question] "when comes out the next CD;" to the [question] when comes out the next DVD; [apparently referring to the DVD of the famous to all Greeks Julia Alexandratou]
Α: (Γελάει) Δεν έχω σχόλιο. Θα πώ μόνο οτι πρέπει να προσέχουμε στη ζωή μας. Γενικότερα...ό,τι δηλώσεις είσαι!
A: (She laughs) No comments. I will only say that we must be careful in our lives. In general....what you declare that's what you are!
Ε: Πότε αρχίζεις τις εμφανίσεις;
Q: When do you start your appearances/shows?
Α: Στις 30 Ιουνίου, στην Αθήνα, ξεκινάω μια πολύ μεγάλη περιοδεία με τους Onirama και τον μεγάλο μου χορηγό, την ΗΒΗ. Και είμαι ενθουσιασμένη γι'αυτή τη συνεργασία, γιατί ετοιμάζουμε πολύ διαφορετικά πράγματα. Σίγουρα μου αρέσει να εμφανίζομαι και σε μαγαζί, αρκεί να είναι στα μέτρα μου....
A: On June 30, in Athens, I begin a very long tour with Onirama and my big donor, IVI. And I'm excited about this partnership because we are preparing very different things. Surely I like appearing in "bouzoukia", provided it is what I want....
Ε: Τί ψάχνεις;
Q: What do you search for [/ What is it that you want/like]?
Α: Κοίτα...Πολλοί λένε "αχ, Έλενα, είσαι σε κάποια σκηνή;". Στην Ελλάδα, όμως, λέγονται "μπουζούκια". Όπως και να το κάνουμε, είναι "μπουζούκια". Παρόλο που είμαι ποπ, πάντα έλεγα οτι δεν μπορώ να σνομπάρω τα μαγαζιά, απ'τη στιγμή που αυτή είναι η ελληνική νοοτροπία διασκέδασης. Απλά, προσπαθώ να κάνω διαφορετικά πράγματα και νομίζω οτι έχω βρει ένα δρόμο που μου ταιριάζει. Παράλληλα, αλλάζει και το ύφος της διασκέδασης. Ακόμα και τα μεγάλα μαγαζιά έχουν γίνει πιο "ποπ", στημένα με καναπέδες κ.λ.π.
A: Look ... Many people say "Oh, Elena, are you in a music scene?". In Greece, however, they are called "bouzoukia". Whatever we do there will always be "bouzoukia". Although I am pop, I've always said that I could not shun this kind of entertainment places , since this is the Greek way of entertainment. I just try to do different things and I think I found a way that fits me. Furthermore, the style of entertainment is changing. Even the big entertainment clubs/places have become more "pop", rigged with sofas etc.
Ε: Σ'ενοχλεί το γαρίφαλο, δηλαδή;
Q: You mean the carnation bothers you?
Α: Όχι, καθόλου! Κάποτε, όταν πήγαινα στη Σουηδία, έβγαινα και αν ήθελα να επικοινωνήσω με το απέναντι τραπέζι, έλεγα: "Τι να πετάξω τώρα; Παγο;".
A: Not at all! Sometimes, when I went to Sweden, I went out and if I wanted to "communicate" with the opposite table, I used to say/think: "What should I throw them now? Ice?"
Ε: Σύμφωνα με δημοσιεύματα, χώρισες κάποια στιγμή. Ισχύει;
Q: According to the news, you were separated [from Toni] at some point of time. Is it true?
Α: Όχι, αυτά δεν ίσχυαν. Σίγουρα όλα τα ζευγάρια τσακώνονται, κάνουν, ράνουν, δεν είπε κανείς οτι ζούμε σε παράδεισο. Με τον Τόνι, όμως, μπαίνουμε στον δωδέκατο χρόνο σχέσης. Για να καταφέρουν δύο άνθρωποι να'ναι τόσα χρόνια μαζί, σημαίνει οτι συμπληρώνει ο ένας τον άλλον. Έχουμε τσακωθεί σίγουρα, αλλά δεν χωρίσαμε ποτέ. Άσε που είμαστε δύο άνθρωποι πολύ ελεύθεροι μέσα στη σχέση μας.
A: No, all these news were groundless. For sure all couples get angry with each other, they do this, they do the other, but no one said we live in paradise. With Tony, however, we are entering the 12th year of our relationship. For two people to manage to be so many years together, it means that they complete each other. We have fought for sure, but we were never separated. Apart from that we are two people that are very free in our relationship.
Ε: Θα συγχωρούσες την απιστία;
Q: Could you forgive infidelity?
Α: Ωχ, δύσκολη ερώτηση. Δεν μου έχει συμβεί. Στην αρχή, συνήθως λες "δεν συγχωρώ". Έπειτα από χρόνια σχέσης, όμως, μπαίνεις σε δίλημμα. Δεν ξέρω. Είναι κάτι που αν έρθει, θα πρέπει να το αντιμετωπίσω εκείνη τη στιγμή.
A: Oh, a difficult question. It hasn't happened to me. At the beginning, usually you say "I can't forgive". After so many years of relationship, however, you are in a dilemma. I don't know. It is something that if it comes, I'll have to deal with it at that time.
Ε: Εσύ έχεις μπεί ποτέ σε πειρασμό να απατήσεις;
Q: Have you ever been tempted to cheat?
Α: Όχι! Θαυμάζω βέβαια άντρες, όπως και ο Τόνι μπορεί να δεί μια γυναίκα και να πει "Θεέ μου, τί γυναικάρα!", αλλά δεν έχουμε θέμα να το συζητάμε. Είμαστε πολύ cool μεταξύ μας.
A: No! I admire of course some men, as well as Tony may see a woman and say: "Oh my God, what a woman!", but we don't have a problem to talk about it. We are very cool with each other.
Ε: Θα παντρευτείτε;
Q: Are you going to get married?
Α: Δεν είναι στα άμεσα σχέδιά μας. Άλλωστε νιώθουμε παντρεμένοι. Κι ένας μεγαλύτερος "γάμος" θα ήταν το παιδί.
A: It isn't in our proximate plans. Besides, we feel married. And an even bigger "marriage" would be a child.
Ε: Πότε λες με το καλό;
Q: When do you wish it to come?
Α: (Γελάει) Θα δούμε! Θα'ρθει κι αυτό στην ώρα του! Τώρα είμαι αφοσιωμένη στη δουλειά μου και στο να αγαπάω τους ανθρώπους που πρέπει.
A: (She laughs) We will see! It will come when the time is right! Right now I am dedicated to my work and to loving the people that I must.
Ε: Θα το τολμούσες εκτός γάμου;
Q: Would you have the cheek to do it [give birth to a baby] without getting married?
Α: Άνετα! Δεν ορίζει ο "γάμος" την οικογένεια. Η οικογένεια ορίζεται όταν υπάρχουν δύο γονείς που συνεννοούνται και κρατούν μια υγιή ισορροπία για τα παιδιά τους. Πρέπει να ρίχνουμε τους εγωισμούς όταν μεγαλώνουμε παιδιά. Είναι εύκολο βέβαια να το λέω, γιατί δεν έχω...Αλλά, ο αδερφός μου έχει παιδί εκτός γάμου. Τώρα πλέον είναι παντρεμένος με μια γυναίκα που επίσης είχε ένα παιδί και είναι μια υπέροχη οικογένεια όπου μεγαλώνουν τέσσερα παιδιά μαζί, τα ανιψάκια μου.
A: Easily! Marriage does not define family. A family is defined when there are two parents who understand each other and who keep a healthy balance for their children. We need to cast away the egos when we bring up children. It is of course easy to say because I do not have any [children]...But my brother has a child outside marriage. Now he is married to a woman who also had a child and they have formed a wonderful family where four children grow up together, my nieces and nephews.
Ε: Γίνεται η απώλεια συνήθεια;
Q: Does a loss become a habit?
Α: Όταν χάνουμε έναν αγαπημένο μας, δεν έχει σημασία ούτε σε ποιά ηλικία τον χάνουμε, ούτε με ποιόν τρόπο. Κρατάμε μια πληγή που κλείνει μεν, αλλά...Πώς είναι όταν πέσω και χτυπήσω το γόνατο; Κάποια στιγμή θα γιατρευτεί, αλλά πού και πού θα πονάει. Ε, όταν θα φυσάει νοτιάς, εμένα θα με πιάνει το γονατάκι.
A: When we lose a beloved person, it doesn't matter at what age we lose him, or how. We keep a wound that is closed, but ... How is it when I fall and hit my knee? At some time it will heal, but now and then it will hurt. So, when it blows south [referring to the wind], my "little knee" will hurt.
Ε: Δεν δίστασες να παραδεχτείς ότι πέρασες κατάθλιψη...
Q: You didn't have second thoughts about revealing that you were dealing with depression....
Α: Η ελληνική κοινωνία ντρέπεται να συζητάει γι'αυτό. Σε άλλες χώρες δεν φοβούνται να μιλήσουν ανοιχτά, είναι καθημερινά σε εκπομπές, σε εφημερίδες, "πώς να βοηθήσεις τον εαυτό σου", "μπες στο τάδε site"...Συζητείται. Η απώλεια είναι μια αιτία. Αλλά το άγχος και η τελειομανία που μας έχει πιάσει όλους, δυστυχώς, προκαλούν περισσότερα ψυχολογικά.
A: The Greek society is ashamed to discuss this. Other countries are not afraid to speak openly, it is in the daily shows, in newspapers, "How to help yourself", "go in the such and such site" ... it is discussed. A loss can be a cause. But the anxiety and perfectionism that has caught us all, unfortunately, causes more psychological [problems].
Ε: Πώς περιέγραφες τότε αυτό που ένιωθες;
Q: How did you describe then what you were feeling?
Α: Ήθελα να μιλάω μόνο με τη μάνα μου. Η μάνα μου, αν και κλασική Ελληνίδα μάνα, το πρώτο πράγμα που με έμαθε και πριν πάθω την κατάθλιψη, ήταν οτι όταν ένας άνθρωπος δεν είναι καλά, θέλει στήριξη. Δεν μπορείς να πιέσεις αυτόν που δεν είναι καλά, θέλει τον χρόνο του. Κι αυτός ο χρόνος ανήκει μόνο στον ίδιο, ούτε στον σύζυγο, ούτε στον γιατρό, ούτε στα αδέρφια του.
A: I wanted to speak with my mother. My mother, though a classical Greek mother, the first thing she taught me before I was diagnosed with depression was that when someone is not well, he needs support. You can not pressure someone that is not well, he wants his time. And this time belongs only to him/her, neither to the spouse nor to the doctor nor to the brothers.
Ε: Είδες κόσμο να φεύγει μακριά σου στα δύσκολα;
Q: Did you see people [meaning family - friends I guess] going away from you in hard times?
Α: Έρχονταν κάποιοι να βοηθήσουν, εγώ δεν ήμουν έτοιμη και τελικά αυτοί οι άνθρωποι θύμωσαν μαζί μου. "ΟΚ, βγάλτα πέρα μόνη σου". Μετά βέβαια κατάλαβαν και οι ίδιοι οτι δεν πήγαινε έτσι. Δεν ήρθαν ποτέ να μου πούν συγγνώμη και δεν το περίμενα. Είναι δύσκολο γι'αυτόν που το περνάει, αλλά είναι και γι'αυτόν που είναι δίπλα του.
A: Some came to help, I was not ready and ultimately these people were angry with me. "OK, get over it by yourself". After of course they understood themselves that it isn't like that/it doesn't go this way. They did not ever come to tell me they were sorry and I did not expect it. It is difficult for him/her that goes through it, but also for him/her that is next to him/her [that is in a difficult situation].
Ε: Τί σε βοήθησε να το χειριστείς;
Q: What helped you handle this situation?
Α: Ο χρόνος. Προσπαθούσα να κάνω πράγματα που μου αρέσουν, ασχολιόμουν με το σπίτι, μετακινούσα τα έπιπλα. Κι αφιέρωνα πολύ χρόνο στα ανίψια μου.
Α: Time. I tried to do things that I like, I worked on the house, I moved the furniture. And I dedicated a lot of time to my nieces and nephews.
Ε: Τι σου έμεινε απ'όλα αυτά;
Q: What did all these leave to your soul?
Α: Οτι αν δεν κλάψουμε, δεν θα απολαύσουμε το γέλιο μετά. Πάντα απολαμβάνουμε πιο πολύ το γέλιο αν έχουμε ρίξει λίγο κλάμα πρίν.
A: That if we don't cry, we will not enjoy laughter afterwards. We always enjoy (the) laughter more if we have cried a little bit before.
E: Η εικόνα είναι σημαντική στη δουλειά σου. Σε καταπιέζει αυτό;
Q: Image is important in your work. Does this oppress you?
Α: Λίγο, επειδή δεν θεωρώ οτι πρέπει πάντα να είμαι αδύνατη. Ενα μοντέλο έχει το σώμα ως εργαλείο, εμένα το εργαλείο μου είναι η φωνή μου.
A: A little bit, because I don't think that I always have to be skinny. A model has her/his body as a tool, my tool is my voice Samiamiditsi....
Ε: Όταν δεν δουλεύεις, αφήνεσαι;
Q: When you don't work, you let yourself [be carried away]?
Α: Απ'τον Σεπτέμβριο που σταμάτησα τις εμφανίσεις μου, αποφάσισα να αφιερώσω χρόνο σε εμένα και την οικογένειά μου και να κάνω διακοπές. Πάντα όταν δουλεύεις και χορεύεις κάθε βράδυ, λογικό είναι να είσαι πιο fit...
A: From September when I stopped my shows, I decided to dedicate time to myself and my family and to have some vacation. Always, when you work and dance every night, it is logical that you are more fit...
Ε: Σε ενοχλεί το "πάχυνες";
Q: Does [the question] "you got fat" bother you?
Α: Οχι. Δεν είμαι ρατσίστρια καταρχήν! Επειδή δηλαδή κάποιος βάζει παραπάνω κιλά σημαίνει οτι έχει χαλάσει σαν άνθρωπος; Εχει τύχει να μου πουν "Έλενα, εσύ είσαι; Πάχυνες γιατί;". Γιατί ξεκουράστηκα! Τι να πω;
A: No. I am not a racist to start with. Just because someone puts on weight it means that he/she "has gone bad" as a human being [?]. Someone told me once "Helena, is that you? You got fat, why?". Because I got some rest! What should I say?
Ε: Κάνεις γρήγορα τον άλλον να νιώσει άνετα μαζί σου...
Q: You make others feel comfortable with you at once....
Α: Στον κόσμο πουλάμε ένα σόου. Όλο το υπόλοιπο πρέπει να είναι αληθινό. Πιστεύω οτι ο κόσμος έχει ανάγκη την οικειότητα μαζί σου. Απευθύνομαι σε νέα παιδιά που μπορεί να νομίζουν οτι η ζωή μου είναι παραμύθι, ενώ δεν είναι. Υπάρχουν όμως όμορφες στιγμές, υπάρχουν όμως και πολύ δύσκολες. Έχουν περάσει δέκα χρόνια που κάνω αυτή τη δουλειά. Πλέον έχει ξεχωρίσει η "Έλενα" στις προσωπικές της στιγμές από την "Παπαρίζου" που βλέπει ο κόσμος. Όταν η "Έλενα" δεν νιώθει καλά, ανεβαίνει στη σκηνή και η "Παπαρίζου" την κάνει καλά! Με ολοκληρώνει το ότι μπορώ να διασκεδάζω τον κόσμο.
A: In the world we sell a show. All the rest must be true. I believe that the world is in need of intimacy with you. I address to young children who may think that my life is a fairytale, though it is not. But there are beautiful moments, as well as very difficult ones. It is ten years now that I do this job. It is "Helena" with her personal moments that has now singled out, than the "Paparizou" that the world sees. When "Elena" is not feeling well, she goes up on stage and "Paparizou" makes her well! It completes me that I can entertain the world.
Ε: Τι απαντάς σε όσους συνδέουν τα ναρκωτικά με τη showbiz;
Q: What do you say to all those that see a connection of drugs with the showbiz?
Α: Ότι υπάρχουν παντού! Τα ναρκωτικά είναι ένα πρόβλημα της κοινωνίας κι όχι ένα πρόβλημα της showbiz.
A: That they exist everywhere! Drugs are a problem of the society and not a problem of the showbiz.
Ε: Εσύ θα δοκίμαζες ποτέ;
Q: Would you ever try [drugs]?
Α: Όχι! Τα φοβάμαι πάρα πολύ! Τα θεωρώ χαζομάρα. Και προτιμώ να πάρω 20 κιλά απ'το να πάρω ναρκωτικά.
A: No! I am afraid of them very much! I consider them a stupidity. And I prefer to take 20 kilos [weight] from taking drugs.
Ε: Τί θα συμβούλευες τον Γιώργο Αλκαίο;
Q: What would be your advice to George Alkaios?
Α: Δυσκολεύομαι να δώσω μια συμβουλή στον Γιώργο, γιατί ο Γιώργος είναι η αιτία που οι Antique ξεκίνησαν την καριέρα τους. Με τη διασκευή του "Ωπα, ώπα" που είχε γράψει για τον Νότη Σφακιανάκη γνωρίσαμε την πρώτη επιτυχία. Ο Γιώργος πάντα είναι ο εαυτός του. Κι αυτό φτάνει. Του εύχομαι απλά καλή επιτυχία.
A: It is difficult for me to give an advice to George, because George is the reason the Antique began their career. On the cover of "Opa, opa" which was written for Notis Sfakianakis, Antique have known their first success. George is always himself. And that's enough. I wish him only success.
Ε: Σε πολλούς, πάντως, η παρουσίαση του τραγουδιού του θύμισε τη δική σου performance...
Q: To many [people] though, the presentation of his song reminded them your performance...
Α: Θα σου πω την αλήθεια. Θεωρώ οτι στη ζωή μας πρέπει να κοιτάμε μπροστά. Δεν μπορούμε να κοιτάμε τι έγινε στη Eurovision 5 χρόνια πριν. Ωστόσο, η Ελλάδα κέρδισε το 2005. Απο δω και πέρα τι κάνουμε! Η Eurovision είναι μια ευρωπαική μουσική γιορτή, δεν είναι τα Νόμπελ. Δεν μ'αρέσει κάθε φορά που έρχεται η Eurovision να λένε όλοι "ας μιλήσουμε με την Έλενα επειδή κέρδισε". Εγώ θέλω να πιστεύω σε μια επόμενη νίκη!
A: I'll tell you the truth. I think that in our lives we must look ahead. We can not look what happened to Eurovision 5 years ago. However, Greece won in 2005. [The question is] from now on what we [should] do! Eurovision is a European music festival, not the Nobel Prize. I do not like whenever Eurovision comes and they all say "let's talk with Elena because she won". I want to believe in a future victory!
Ε: Την Κυριακή 28 Μαρτίου κυκλοφορεί με την "R" το νέο σου CD. Γιατί αποφάσισες να το λανσάρεις σε εφημερίδα;
Q: On Sunday, March 28 will be released with "R" your new CD. Why did you decide to launch it with a newspaper?
Α: Πιστεύω οτι είναι ένας πάρα πολύ καλός τρόπος για premium sale! Με τη δισκογραφική μου, τη Sony, θέλουμε - με έναν νόμιμο τρόπο - να βρίσκονται τα τραγούδια μας σε ακόμη περισσότερα σπίτια. Νομίζω ότι είναι μια πάρα πολύ έξυπνη κίνηση, ειδικά απ'τη στιγμή που οι πωλήσεις στα δισκοπωλεία έχουν μειωθεί πολύ και υπάρχει και μεγάλη παρανομία στο download. Το "Γύρω από τ'όνειρο" περιλαμβάνει 12 ολοκαίνουργια τραγούδια πολύ σπουδαίων συντελεστών και πιστεύω ότι θα σας ενθουσιάσει!
A: I think that it is a very good way for premium sale! With my record company, Sony, we want - in a legitimate way - to bring our songs in even more homes. I think it's a very smart move, especially since record sales in music stores have fallen and there is great illegality with the downloading. The "Gyro apo t'oneiro" contains 12 brand new songs of great contributors and I think you will love it!;
Ε: Το αφιερώνεις στον πατέρα σου;
Q: Do you dedicate it to your father?
Α: Ναι, επειδή είναι ο πρώτος δίσκος μου που κυκλοφορεί χωρίς να είναι εδώ κι επειδή ο πατέρας μου ήταν πάντα στο πλευρό μου. Αν δεν ήταν ο πατέρας μου, που υπέγραψε το πρώτο συμβόλαιο αντί για μένα γιατί δεν είχα κλείσει ακόμα τα 18, δεν θα έκανα αυτή τη δουλειά σήμερα! Ήταν ο καλύτερός μου φίλος. Ήταν ο καλύτερος πατέρας για εμένα, γιατί κι εγώ ήμουν ένα πολύ ιδιαίτερο παιδί μικρή... Ο καθένας πιστεύει οτι έχει τον καλύτερο πατέρα, αλλά ο Γιώργος Παπαρίζος ήταν ο καλύτερος πατέρας για την Έλενα Παπαρίζου.
A: Yes, because it is my first album that comes out without my father being here and because he was always at my side. If my father wasn't beside me, who signed the first contract instead of me because I was not yet 18, I would not do this job today! He was my best friend. He was the best father to me, because I was a very special little kid ... Everyone believes that he/she has the best father, but George Paparizou was the best father for Elena Paparizou.
