Helena In People Magazine

This weeks People magazine has all the details from Helena's trip to Cyprus, where she spoke for the first time since the separation.

Wearing tight denim shorts, a colorful shirt, green, black, pink and white, and holding a large bouquet which had been given to her by some fans, Helena Paparizou arrived in the afternoon on Thursday, July 28 (she had landed in Cyprus the dawn of that day) at the Cyprus radio station Radio Proto in Nicosia, she gave an interview to a radio producer Zachary Philippides.

In a 30 minute interview from 16.45 until 17.15, for the two major concerts that Helena would give in Cyprus, in Larnaca and Limassol, When asked whether she and toni had split she replied "Yes, We split up".

Shortly afterwards, at 18.45, Helena gave a 35 minute interview at the radio station Capital in Limassol, the radio presenter, Thanasis Kolovos, was very revealing. "When something ends, it ends because no reason ..." she said eventually. "When I say over, its over! Finally! I ruin my best friendship from adolescence so, and so far we are not talking. For me, the "X" is "X"! The "X" is feeling. When I have the "X" in me somewhere and I feel a doubt, it means that you should not put the "X". So I will put water in my wine. " They asked her whether both are to blame in a "goodbye", she replied: "Alas! Always! Blame both. "

Murderous / Tis Agapis Ta Thimata [The Full Story]

This is a rather complicated story and we was never sure of what the outcome was going to be. That is until today. A couple of months ago some lyrics were posted onto facebook from two new Helena songs. An english song called Murderous and a greek version called Tis Agapis Ta Thimata. These songs were supposed to be on Greatest Hits & More. To cut a long story short, these songs were given to Ivi Adamou and Tis Agapis Ta Thimata appears on her new album San Ena Oniro which is out today! You can hear this song below and tell us what you think. Can you imagine Helena singing it? Is it better that the song was given away? We would like to wish Ivi luck and success with this song.

Elena moving to Universal Music?

As many of you know, Elena's contract with Sony Music Greece is rumored to be up/coming up. It is pretty strange that we have not heard anything about a re-signing to Sony or talks of a move to a new label yet, but maybe that has to do with the media being more interested in her personal life currently.

Well now we are finally starting to hear something. In last week's "Music & Media", (a weekly column in a newspaper about the music and media industry, usually very reliable) it talks about big changes going on at Universal Music Greece and Universal Music as a whole. Hidden in the article, is a mention that Universal is trying to sign some new big artists to their roster including Elena. Specifically, it talks about how Vico Antippas, President of Nordic, Central & Eastern Europe, South Africa & India, Universal Music Group International, is trying to get Elena to sign with Universal Music outside of Greece.

So could Elena be leaving Sony for Universal? I know she has always praised her relationship with Sony, especially with Giannis Doxas, but you never know what can happen. We have seen MANY surprising moves in the Greek music industry lately. Also Giorgos Sabanis was/is very close with Giannis Doxas, but he still left Sony for Universal too. Maybe Vico Antippas will give her a deal she can't refuse?

What do you guys think? It is worth noting that long time Universal Greece artist Michalis Hatzigiannis was able to get a contract with Universal Music Germany, and attempted to launch an English album from there. Maybe Elena could sign to Universal Music Sweden to attempt to launch a new English album from there? .

Oikotimes hints Possible International Album and Eurovision Appearance for Sweden

After the shocking news that Helena Paparizou and Tony Mavridis ended their relationship after 12 years, the Eurovision winner of 2005 is now in Sweden. She left Athens in May and it was the first year that she didn’t appear in the MAD Video Music Awards something which created a round of gossip around her. Helena came to Athens for a short time in July mainly to arrange some legal issues about the common assets she and Tony got the past 12 years.

Helena is now in Sweden preparing her new album aimed to be released in autumn. She is discussing with Swedish authors for the new CD album aiming to have an international release by the end of the year. According to information reaching oikotimes.com, Helena and her team are approached once again by SVT for the 2012 Melodifestivalen and the singer is closer than ever to a deal. After all SVT is after Helena for at least 3 years now.

Billboard Greece Interview + Translation

Here is a translation of the above interview by Panos (Paparizou Forum). The interview was given to Billboard Greece at the shooting of the video clip Baby Its Over, back in March.

Interviewer: Except for your Greatest Hits, what are we going find in your album?

Helena: Except for my biggest hits, there will be 3 new songs, (not including Baby It's Over). I wish they will be in both English and Greek. The songs are written by Swedish people and others, produced by Toni Mavridis. The lyrics in Greek are written by Giannis Doxas. In English, there are foreign people who have written the lyrics. Right now, I can't remember all those names, because usually abroad, there are many people who cooperate to write a song. And, I don't want to forget to say that, this time, that I release a "best of" & more , I sung for first time, words written by Moraitis, and I was very pleased, because I have never had a collaboration with Moraitis. I have recorded the new song. And I can't wait to meet him. That's because, as I worked as a member of Antique, we had never had the luck to meet the composers of each song, I mean, those who have written the music or the lyrics. We were working with "C&N Project" and we could only meet the arrangers-producers as we say in English. In Greece producer is the arranger. When my solo career begun, and I got signed to Sony, I demanded to be able to meet all the composers, lyricists and arrangers or anything.

Interviewer: Will you include any DVD to the GH&M Collection?

Helena: The version that will be available to music stores, will be a triple CD, with many songs. We have included "Just walk Away" which is a live recording from the first Mad Secret Concert, and many other songs, that I 've loved. For example I had completely forgotten a song written by Alex Papaconstantinou called "Taxidi gia to Agnosto", which used to be one of my top favorites, or another song from "Protereotita" album, written by Pegasus called "Pou pige tosi Agapi" [obviously she made a mistake here, because that song is included in Iparxei Logos CD and Iparxei Logos: Platinum Edition]. These are songs that have been very important to my personal life, but they are not widely known to the public, I would say they haven't become hits. Ι think they should have been more known. They are very nice songs, I hope people will enjoy them. And then we will do something "very-exclusive".. We will release a deluxe edition, which will be only available in the internet and in fewer copies. There will be a process that you will have to order and wait for it to arrive and all that stuff, but it will contain much stuff, like posters, an awarding (didn't get that ) from those 500 fans that they will get hold of it, and generally loads of stuff.

Interviewer: Every "Greatest Hits" collection (and that's your first one), aims to make your fans have a look in the past, and see your career. If you had a time-machine, and traveled into time, which point of your career would you like to live again in?

Helena: Oh, I would say many moments, including moments that I 've lived as an Antique member, but this "best of" has to do only with "Helena's Solo Career". Ι have experienced unbelievable moments, in my life, and I 've been very lucky because I 've met very good people, and people that were very useful in what I wanted to do, and people that are not in my life at this time, and helped me at that point of my career, and I owe who I am now to these people. I mean, during Eurovision period, I 've seen many things. I would live to re-experience the night of Eurovision. I 'd also like to live again, that moment, when I was in Spetses (on vacation back in 1999 when Opa Opa became a huge hit all of a sudden), and I received many many phone-calls by journalists from Sweden, saying "Opa Opa? Vad är det för nå?" (meaning "Opa Opa? What's that?") and I was answering "I am on vacation" and I remember I had to go back to Sweden because the song had exploded (in terms of success). Another moment I remember is when I first heard my voice on the radio.. It was like Ι was deafened because I had it in the maximum volum, and I had my ear stuck on the speaker, because it was like I couldn't get enough of that. It was the first time you see, and I couldn't believe it. The first time I did something completely different, it was for the "Energy Radio" in Sweden, when I was a hostess, and we had a famous guest, such as Ricky Martin. The first time I met international stars, such as Celine Dion.. Another moment is with Nana Mouskouri, when I appeared to the French T.V., invited by Nana, and the greatest part was when we had a small duet, and sung a refrain of a song. Ι remember getting off the stage trembling, crying and saying to my self "I have sung with Nana Mouskouri" and Yannis Marketakis, was looking at me and saying "Calm Down, it was very nice!". I couldn't believe it. We are very good friends with Nana, and with many more Greek artists, but Nana Mouskouri is unique. And I 'll mention another artist, who is Charoula Alexiou, and every time I see her she says to me "Please don't cry again" because I get emotional each time I see her since I love her, and listen to her music a lot.

Interviewer: Any video clip or performance that you are proud of? And for what reason? Except for the Eurovision one.

Helena: The truth is that there are nights, that I want to go to youtube to go back in time, and remember all those things that have gone by. I do this job for 12 year, so I 've done many many things, until now. I know there are not too much, because I wish I will do another 122.. I am proud of the first video clip that I 've done with Gavalos.. "Follow Me". It was the first I had done in Greece.. First time I sung a "Hasapiko" song, called Kainouria Agapi where I saw the castle of Monemvasia for the first time... I won't forget the run-through we had done with MTV in Berlin, where we discussed about art... Because we are all into art, even the reporter.. It's something that we deal with all day, and we can't go ahead without this. If I don't occupy myself with something "artistic" a day, it's like I don't live, like that day didn't exist. And then another thing I did I did and enjoyed very much, was "MadWalk"..

Interviewer: Could you describe in 3 words your plans as an artist from now on..?

Helena: I say what I ' like to do, because I can't describe exactly what will happen.. At first place, I want to keep my optimism, work very hard so the result will be good and I want my songs to be loved by the people.. Because, the song is a very important element to our lives, and if the song isn't loved it turns into a 0 and so does the artist. And you know, when you have gotten used to people loving you, it seems bad to you. And I remember, that in the past Christos Dantis had said "It's difficult to top the road but it's very quick but reaching the bottom is very quick". When you start going to the bottom, you can't realize it. Only when you are there you can see it. I want to believe that I will be healthy, keep doing what I do, have a bunch of people around me so I can inspire them, and get inspired by them and do beautiful things with them.

Interviewer: I want you to send one message to all your fans and what would you like to say to Billboard?

Helena: I will begin with the Billboard because I always say "Keep the best for the last" (referring to the fans), so good luck to billboard here in Greece. For my buddies (the fans), I wish them to be very well and I know that they are kinda sad because there are only 4 weeks left of performances (at Diogenis) and I receive many messages and they come back backstage every night there. Somedays they come and we are sharing hugs and crying.. I will miss them, but I swear that I won't be away for TOO long ...

Helena & Toni Break Up After 12 Years Together

News has recently surfaced that Helena and her partner Toni have broken up after 12 happy years together. They were engaged but not married and they had no children. They seemed like the perfect couple, Helena often fondly spoke about him. In Nitro Magazine [May 2008], Helena said "Toni isnt my first relationship, he is my last"

We would like to wish them luck in the future. UPDATE. this has now been confirmed by Helena.

According to Nikos from Paparizou Forum, Helena just gave an interview with MAD Radio and she said that the new song (Babe, Its Over) was written by swedish people, produced by Toni Mavridis and greek lyrics by Yannis Doksas. It will be released in mid-march with her best of album, which will have 3-5 more new songs and plenty of backstage and extra material which she can not yet reveal but she revealed that it will have 3 DISCS.

Very exciting news! Her performance tonight at MADwalk was just amazing. Can't Wait for HQ Videos. As soon as they arrive I will post them here!

Cancellation of Albania Concert

Unfortunately, the concert at Tirana was cancelled because of bad weather , but there will be a concert in June or July 2011 at Tirana instead.[Thanks Elmo]

Concert In Albania

Helena Paparizou is going to give a concert in the Tirana's Qemal Stafa stadium on September 25. Along with her various artists from Kosovo, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Romania. The concert is already attracting massive media attention and is mainly sponsored by Greek companies which are existing in the country. The doors open at 19.30 local time and the tickets cost 500 Lek.

-Differences from the Greek Deluxe edition:

This edition is released in Jewel case.It does not include a DVD.It includes a different booklet with some pics of the Greek deluxe edition in larger size and others cropped (due to the booklet's size).The back cover contains the english translations of the song titles. All the booklet information has been translated into English (including Elena's message) apart from the song titles and the lyrics.

Helena Will NOT be a Judge on Greek Idol

Preparations for the second cycle of «Greek Idol» started and producers want this time to be more successful. So they are in the process of looking for other judges. Thus came the proposal to Helena Paparizou, but she refused. "I am very honored with this proposal, but I think I am too young to judge others," replied Helena.

This is the second time Helena Paparizou has been offered a role in a talent show, She had previously been offered a job to present the «X-Factor», which she rejected. Tonight, Friday, Helena and Onirama will give a big concert in Larissa on September 13 and will appear in the Peloponnesian stage.

Helena & Tony [By the pool in Kefalonia]

Helena Paparizou is in Kefalonia this week as part of her summer tour with Onirama. And of course, the singer has combined work and pleasure, having been with her partner Tony Mavridis. The couple stayed in a luxury suite, which had, inter alia, private pool, a luxury hotel complex. There the singer rested from the concert, but also had the opportunity to get closer to her lover. The couple did some walking in Lixouri and Argostoli, along with Onirama and Sissy Christidou and her son, who came with Theodore Maradini on the tour. Alexander Rybak, the winner of the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, called out for fans to join his Facebook page to cross the 100,000 fans line. Inspired by that, Eurovision.tv took some time to investigate, who of the former participants of Europe's favourite TV-show have the largest communities behind them in the most popular social medium in the world.

There have been many artists who have taken the responsibility to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Many stars have risen from the contest and have got some more wind in their wings.

All of this can also be seen on Facebook, where fans all over the world support their favourite Eurovision Song Contest artists. Who do you think has the most fans? Who is the Facebook ruler of the Eurovision Song Contest participants?
